Police Seize Nearly 200 Vehicles in Crackdown on Toll Evaders and Ghost Cars

In a concerted effort to combat toll evasion and the use of ghost vehicles, police seized nearly 200 vehicles last weekend. The operation took place at the Henry Hudson Bridge and several other crossings, targeting the growing issue of fake paper license plates.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has intensified its focus on these illegal activities, resulting in 276 arrests. Among those apprehended was an armed felon who attempted to escape on a motorcycle.

This crackdown is part of a broader initiative by the MTA and law enforcement agencies to curb toll evasion and enhance security across major crossings. The increased enforcement aims to ensure compliance with toll regulations and improve overall safety on the roads.
