A police officer was shot Tuesday evening while responding to a robbery in Jamaica, Queens, according to police sources.
The incident unfolded at 92-18 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., where a suspect was reportedly attempting a gunpoint robbery. During the response, the officer exchanged gunfire with the suspect, who was fatally shot at the scene.
The officer was struck in the leg and transported to Jamaica Hospital in a police cruiser. Fortunately, officials say he is in stable condition.
Additionally, a woman was injured in the leg by gunfire, police confirmed.
Authorities revealed that the suspect, who died at the scene, was wanted in connection with other robberies. A firearm was recovered from the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.
