Google Gemini Set for Major Upgrade on iPhones with Standalone App Launch

Google’s Gemini AI assistant, launched earlier this year for both Android and iOS devices, is soon expanding its reach for iPhone users. Up until now, iPhone users could only access Google Gemini through the main Google app, while Android users had a dedicated standalone app. Now, at least one Apple user in the Philippines has been able to download the Gemini app directly from the App Store, signaling a broader rollout to come.

The standalone app will give iPhone users access to advanced features, including Google Live, which allows users to have real-time, hands-free conversations with AI, access information, and even generate creative content like poems and scripts. Introduced at Google I/O in May 2024, Google Live has been designed as a highly capable digital companion that can answer questions, assist with homework, help plan trips, and more.

As the app expands globally, Apple users can look forward to an easier and more comprehensive Gemini experience, making it an increasingly valuable tool on both major mobile platforms.
