Jet Ski Rider Rescued from Lake Michigan on Chicago’s North Side in Critical Condition

A male jet ski rider was rescued from Lake Michigan on Chicago’s North Side on Monday morning and is currently in critical condition, according to Chicago fire officials.

The incident occurred near Montrose Beach before 10 a.m., when the male rider went under the water. Emergency responders performed CPR at the scene before transporting him to Weiss Memorial Hospital.

A female rider who was with him managed to swim to shore safely.

Following the incident, the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) issued a reminder on social media, urging the public to wear flotation gear when using a jet ski or any boat, even when close to shore.

Additional Lake Michigan Incidents

In a separate incident, a woman’s body was recovered from Lake Michigan near Winnetka on Monday morning. She had been missing since her small boat capsized on Sunday night.

Furthermore, another man remains missing after reportedly falling off a boat in the “Playpen” area on Saturday.
