The City of Dallas, in collaboration with Dallas ISD, is opening a multi-agency resource center this weekend to assist residents affected by recent storm damage. The center will be located at George W. Truett Elementary School on Inadale Avenue in East Dallas and will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2.
The resource center will provide a variety of services, including:
• Debris Cleanup Assistance: Help with removing tree limbs and other debris.
• Food and Water Assistance: Provision of essential supplies.
• Disaster Case Management: Support in navigating recovery resources and services.
John Hall, spokesperson for Texans on Mission, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the services available. “This is a one-stop spot where you can get most of your needs met with trusted partners that have been vetted not only by the city but by other agencies that have been doing it for a long time,” Hall said.
East Dallas resident Susanna Abraham expressed her appreciation for the resource center. “We had some trees down in the back,” she said, emphasizing the convenience of having multiple services in one location. “Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to hit all the different places. We wouldn’t be able to get that help. It’s definitely helpful.”
Texans on Mission will be one of the participating agencies, offering free chainsaw services to residents dealing with fallen trees and large limbs. “If a tree has fallen on your house, you have large limbs that are hanging up high where you can’t get to them. Our volunteer team will cut them down, put them on the curb, and let the city take care of all free of charge,” Hall added.
The multi-agency resource center at George W. Truett Elementary School aims to provide crucial support to Dallas residents recovering from storm damage. By bringing together government and nonprofit organizations, the city ensures that affected individuals can access the help they need efficiently and effectively.
