Three of the four inmates who escaped from a Louisiana jail last weekend have been captured, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office. Omarion Hookfin, 19, has been taken into custody, though authorities did not specify when or where Hookfin was apprehended.
Jamarcus Cyprian, 20, remains at large as of Friday afternoon. The inmates, including Cyprian, escaped from the Tangipahoa Parish Jail during their recreation time in the yard.
The escape occurred in two phases: two inmates fled on Saturday afternoon, and the other two on Sunday, according to Sheriff Daniel Edwards.
Avery Guidry, 19, and Travon Johnson, 21, were captured on Monday, hiding in a dumpster behind a Dollar General store.
All four inmates were held in connection with violent crimes before their escape. Hookfin, Guidry, and Johnson were awaiting trial for their roles in a 2022 deadly home invasion that resulted in the death of a father and the injury of his 12-year-old daughter.
Authorities continue to search for Jamarcus Cyprian and urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.
