Actor Johnny Wactor, known for his role on “General Hospital,” tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in downtown Los Angeles. The 37-year-old former soap opera star was fatally shot while intervening in a catalytic converter theft, as confirmed by his family.
The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday near West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street. According to LAPD investigators, three individuals were attempting to steal a catalytic converter when Wactor, leaving work at a downtown rooftop bar, noticed activity near his car. Approaching the scene with a coworker, he inquired about the situation, only to be met with gunfire from one of the suspects, who was wearing a mask.
Despite immediate medical attention, Wactor succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. His portrayal of Brando Corbin on “General Hospital” garnered him recognition, with over 160 episodes to his credit before his character’s departure in 2022.
In response to his untimely passing, “General Hospital” released a statement expressing sorrow and extending condolences to Wactor’s family and loved ones. Beyond his soap opera stint, Wactor’s acting career spanned various film and television projects, including appearances in “Station 19,” “NCIS,” “Westworld,” and the video game “Call of Duty: Vanguard.”
