LOS ANGELES-LA Fleet Week is back for its ninth year, promising a spectacular showcase at Los Angeles Harbor. This event will draw thousands of visitors to celebrate the military, particularly the Navy and Coast Guard, during Memorial Day weekend.
This year’s highlight includes the arrival of two impressive ships, featuring an aircraft carrier for the first time in 13 years. The main events of Fleet Week will run from Friday to Monday, May 24-27, with additional activities scheduled in the days leading up to the weekend.
The ships are scheduled to arrive midweek, setting the stage for the annual San Pedro and Port of Los Angeles celebration. The USS Carl Vinson, one of only 11 mega warships in the US Navy fleet, is expected to arrive from San Diego on Tuesday afternoon, May 21. Prime viewing spots for the arrival include Cabrillo Beach and the fishing pier at the Outer Harbor, where the ship will dock. Public access will be restricted south of 22nd Street during this time.
Additionally, a USS Coast Guard cutter will anchor at the Downtown Harbor dock on Harbor Boulevard near Fifth Street, adjacent to the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. Both ships will be open for free public tours from Friday through Monday.
