MARTA Atlanta Airport Station Reopens Monday After Renovations

ATLANTA-MARTA’s Atlanta Airport Station is set to reopen on Monday, bringing relief to commuters after six weeks of closure for extensive renovations. According to MARTA officials, the temporary shutdown significantly reduced the construction timeline by 17 months.

The renovation project, which began on April 8, focused on upgrading both the concourse and platform levels. Improvements included new flooring, enhanced lighting, and infrastructure updates to accommodate a new elevator, aimed at improving accessibility and overall commuter experience.

During the renovation period, travelers heading to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport via MARTA were required to use shuttle services between the College Park Station and the airport. The reopening of the Airport Station marks the end of this temporary inconvenience.

MARTA officials emphasized the efficiency gained by closing the station, which accelerated the project timeline. “Shutting down that area helped reduce construction time by 17 months,” officials noted, highlighting the benefits of the brief closure.

Visual renderings of the updated station have been shared, and further images of the completed project are expected to be released soon.
